Attraction
Day 10: Sunday, January 21, 2024
One sunny cold winter day, I stepped in the frozen snow which left my foot prints every step I took. The path to the cafe was not completely cleared from the snowfall the evening before. I wore my black fuzzy laced snow boots with warm burgundy wool socks. My brown pants were loosely fitted in the leg and petite in length. My sweater was a cream colored cotton turtle neck that was also loosely fitted. My hair was tied back in a low ponytail with a matching colored beige scrunchie. I wore subtle silver jewelry a long chain with a heart charm, two artistic styled silver rings and silver tri- bangle bracelets. I felt very put together. My black thigh length puffer winter coat and my cozy black snow gloves kept me warm. Yet, every now and then the wind whipped and I felt a cold sting on my uncovered face. I couldn’t wait to go inside the cafe.
I entered the shop with a sigh of relief that the heat was turned on. I knew I would warm up from the bitter cold blast that my hometown was experiencing in no time. I looked for an empty table to sit at. Most of the tables were taken by customers. I found one table towards the far end close to the gender neutral co-Ed bathroom. I situated myself comfortably.
There was a short line about two people long. Not too bad, I thought to myself. I left my coat at the table to hold my place, and then walked online. There was one woman In front of me. She looked like she was about my age. In front of her was a man tall dark and handsome. I couldn’t stop staring. I couldn’t tell his age by the way he looked. He didn’t have a wrinkle on him and he looked like he worked out. His skin was white, his eyes dark brown and brown hair clean cut. His body was broad in his navy long sleeve Ralph Lauren polo. He looked dashing and debonair. He could’ve easily been a model. He wore beige chinos and a brown leather belt. He also had navy Adidas sneakers that tied the whole outfit together. Oh my goodness, my eyes glued to him. I couldn’t stop staring at this beautiful looking being. My heart pounded, as I heard him order his espresso black. His voice was deep and clear in diction. And, I drooled.
After the man payed for his order, he got his drink, thanked the barista and smiled. I couldn’t get enough of this. The woman ahead of me ordered and my eyes followed to where the man I was infatuated with. Unbelievable, he sat at the table next to mine, where I left my coat moments before.
Finally, I was next to order my coffee. I ordered a small espresso light with sweetener. The barista then took my credit card and made my espresso. The service was quick and I couldn’t wait to get back to my table.
I try not to gawk over Mr. Modelman sitting at the table next to me. I looked at my phone and the apps on the screen. The apps on my phone really define me. Social media, dating sites, Game Center, backgammon, solitaire, Candy Crush, scrabble, photos, journal, notes, calendar, text, Uber, email, search engines, files, music, and the cafe app…
I tap the dating sites apps on my phone, as to not disturb Mr. Modelman. Time to start living. Family and close friends are my foundation for happiness. Living life to the fullest through love and laughter. When one is open, honest and knows how to communicate is key. Basically, be a good person. Show affection, compassion and kindness.
The words on the profiles sound great, but I am not attracted to the matching photos. And now it’s also about location. If someone is twenty-five miles outside your radius, are you really going to do the long distance relationship? Does long distance really work?
I am looking for the package deal. A good person, kind, considerate, communicative, honest, attractive and within a ten mile distance. This will allow me to go on dates and enjoy the company of the person I am dating. In person. Who wants a relationship in their phone?
I looked up instantly and got the guts to introduce myself to Mr. Modelman. “Hello. My name is CC…”
We only live once. You never know what can aspire. Go for it. It is what is. You will sooner or later learn whether it’s meant to be or not. We aren’t getting younger and age is only a number. So, live, love and care every minute.
