What Is Your Style?
Day 7: Saturday, January 13, 2024
Early in the evening, I made my way to the cafe. My day was filled with a variety of activities. I got things done and crossed the activities off my to do list. My need for my daily dose of coffee was not an option to contemplate at that hour.
The clouds rolled in. The weather remains temperamental. Rain is on the way, but a milder day made the air temperature pleasant. I really wanted an iced coffee today rather than hot to quench my thirst.
I found a table at the end of the shop. And got comfortably situated. I looked at the menu for a bit not feeling my usual chai tea latte nonfat milk. I craved something different. The menu had so much to choose from or I could create my own. Since the popular drink lately has been the caramel macchiato, I figured why not give that a try. I told the barista my simple order.“I would like a medium iced caramel macchiato with nonfat milk please.”The barista registered my order and took my method of payment. The macchiato was made in minutes and passed directly to me.I thanked the barista for her swift service.
I walked back to my table and nestled myself comfortably into the chair. I studied my drink. The barista made a beautiful iced caramel macchiato. The bottom half of the cup was filled with nonfat milk and coffee and the top half was heavy on the caramel. The cup had one quarter of ice. I rotated the cup and watched the ice spin around to blend the mix. The first sip I took was so pleasant. The coldness refreshing. The caramel flavor dominated every other taste, as I drank the coffee. The caramel reminded me of a chewy sticky sweetness that lingered on. The taste left a connection to my mouth and palate, so my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth every time I took a swig of the concoction. The strong hints of coffee followed the sweet tasting caramel taste.
I looked around the cafe and instantly noticed two elderly gentlemen. The men were sitting across from one another conversing with words and dynamic expressions. One of the men wore a pink button down shirt. He was partially bald with glasses and clasping his hands with his elbows on the table as he spoke to the other man. The other man was dressed in a purple v neck sweater. The man in the purple sweater had his back to me. His hair was peppered and lightly tinted. The conversation between the two was non stop. The pink shirted gentlemen was very expressive with hand gestures as he talked to the one opposite him. His facial expressions and hand gestures captured my attention and moments later the table was cleared and the men quickly departed. While watching them leave the cafe, my heart throbbed.
Today too my ensemble was very put together as well and I added glimmer of color for a change. I was not wearing my usual go to black attire. I wore a navy blue cardigan denim jeans and black leather boots. How do you present yourself? What is your style? Are you a fashionista? Do you dress for success? Are you a heels or sneakers gal? Are you a button down polo or t shirt type of guy? Weigh in this guys and gals.
What’s in your closet?I organize my closet accordingly. I have dresswear in one section. I have my casual attire in the other section. I also organize by season. Every change of season, I go shopping in my own closet. T shirts, long sleeve shirts, sweaters, workout clothes, sleepwear, leggings and pants all sectioned and organized. I even color code my pants, shirts and sweaters. And, my shoes are in a section of my closet too.
I’m a sneakers gal. I’m down to earth and put together. Of course when I have to dress, I dress for success.
Present yourself. Wear what you desire. What makes you comfortable? What makes you, you? Just live and be.
